Callahan hires Cosgrove as D-coordinator

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska coach Bill Callahan hired
Wisconsin assistant Kevin Cosgrove as defensive coordinator and
linebackers coach Friday.

Cosgrove, who held the same position with the Badgers for the
past nine seasons, has a close relationship with Callahan. The two
were roommates during their freshman year at Illinois Benedictine
College in Lisle, Ill.

"It's an honor and a pleasure to be on Bill's staff at the
University of Nebraska," Cosgrove said in a statement. "Bill's
knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the game is unmatched. I look
forward to working for Bill and Nebraska for many years."

Cosgrove has 22 years of coaching experience and had coached
with Callahan for 12 years -- five at Wisconsin and seven at

"Kevin is a proven recruiter and will be an excellent defensive
coordinator for us," Callahan said. "We are extremely pleased to
have him head up our defense.''
