Callahan hires Cosgrove as D-coordinator
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska coach Bill Callahan hired Wisconsin assistant Kevin Cosgrove as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Friday.
Cosgrove, who held the same position with the Badgers for the past nine seasons, has a close relationship with Callahan. The two were roommates during their freshman year at Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle, Ill.
"It's an honor and a pleasure to be on Bill's staff at the University of Nebraska," Cosgrove said in a statement. "Bill's knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the game is unmatched. I look forward to working for Bill and Nebraska for many years."
Cosgrove has 22 years of coaching experience and had coached with Callahan for 12 years -- five at Wisconsin and seven at Illinois.
"Kevin is a proven recruiter and will be an excellent defensive coordinator for us," Callahan said. "We are extremely pleased to have him head up our defense.''
