LSU fills spot created by delayed Hokies game
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU has agreed to open its 2004 football season in Tiger Stadium against Oregon State on Sept. 4.
Final contract details are still pending and should be made final in the next few days, LSU said in a release.
The Oregon State game fills the void left in LSU's schedule when the Tigers' game against Virginia Tech was pushed back to the 2007 season.
LSU's game against Oregon State will mark the fourth meeting between the teams and first since a 45-7 Tiger win in Baton Rouge to open the 1982 season. LSU also beat Oregon State 28-11 in Baton Rouge in 1976 and 27-24 in Tiger Stadium in 1981.
Oregon State, a member of the Pac-10, posted an 8-5 overall mark in 2003, which included a 55-14 win over New Mexico in the Las Vegas Bowl.
