PHILADELPHIA -- Quarterbacks Lang Campbell of William & Mary and Dustin Long of Sam Houston State and running back DaVon Fowlkes of Appalachian State were selected as finalists Monday for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in Division I-AA.

Long, the Southland Conference offensive player of the year, has thrown for 3,735 yards and 36 touchdowns with 14 interceptions for the Bearkats (10-2), who play Eastern Washington in a I-AA quarterfinal Saturday. Long transferred from Texas A&M before the 2003 season when coach Dennis Franchione took over the Aggies program

Campbell, the Atlantic 10 offensive player of the year, has passed for 3,331 yards and 24 touchdowns with four interceptions. The Tribe (10-2) meet Delaware in the quarterfinals of the I-AA playoffs Saturday.

Fowlkes led Division I-AA in catches with 103 for 1,618 yards and had 2,313 all-purpose yards -- all Southern Conference records. His 14 touchdowns set a school mark.

The winner will be announced Dec. 16 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
