Softball player starred in Athens Olympics
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Fiesta Bowl teams haven't even been selected yet, but the parade has its grand marshal.
Jennie Finch, a star pitcher on the 2004 gold medal U.S. Olympic softball team, will be grand marshal of the Fiesta Bowl Parade.
Finch pitched two shutouts for the U.S. team at the Athens Olympics. The United States dominated opponents, outscoring the field 51-1 in nine games.
A former University of Arizona star, Finch will lead the parade on Dec. 31, a day before the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe.
Fiesta Bowl president and CEO John Junker said Thursday that the teams will be selected on Sunday.
