Mayes, Adams dismissed from team
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Redshirt freshmen Erik Mayes and Jorrie Adams were dismissed Monday from the Texas A&M football team for violating team rules, the school announced.
"It is unfortunate and I am disappointed that it has to reach this point," A&M coach Dennis Franchione said in a statement. "We wish both of these young men well."
The school didn't specify what rules were broken.
Mayes, a 5-foot-9, 177-pound defensive back from Humble, had 69 tackles and one interception last year. He started once at cornerback and was also the Aggies' top punt returner with 20 returns for 122 yards.
Adams, a 6-7, 282-pound defensive lineman from Jasper, had 22 tackles last year in a reserve role.
