Murray State fires coach after winless OVC season
MURRAY, Ky. -- Murray State fired football coach Joe Pannunzio on Friday, a day after the Racers finished a 2-9 season in which they went winless in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Pannunzio was 30-37 in six seasons at Murray State, including a conference championship in 2002. Before being hired by the Racers, Pannunzio spent five seasons as an assistant to Tommy Tuberville at Mississippi and Auburn.
The Racers ended the season Thursday with a 49-20 loss at Tennessee-Martin.
