Emerald Bowl gets prime-time spot for 2006 season
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Emerald Bowl will move to prime time next season, giving a higher profile to the matchup between schools from the Pacific-10 and Atlantic Coast conferences.
The bowl, in its fifth season, will be played at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 27 at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. The game will be telecast by ESPN.
The game will match the Pac-10's fourth- or fifth-place team against the ACC's fifth, sixth or seventh selection.
"We look forward to showcasing the Emerald Bowl in prime time," said Dave Brown, ESPN's vice president of programming. "The new matchup between the Pac-10 and ACC, the only bowl game between the two conferences, merits a prime time telecast."
