Sun Bowl announces name change to Brut Sun Bowl
EL PASO, Texas -- The nation's second-oldest college football bowl game just got a new name.
The Dec. 29 Sun Bowl, which has also signed a new four-year television contract with CBS, will now be dubbed the Brut Sun Bowl, Sun Bowl Association officials said Wednesday.
Officials with Helen of Troy, the game's primary sponsor, said the seventh name change since 1986 was a natural transition given Brut's long history of commercial endorsements by such sports icons as Joe Namath, Muhammad Ali and Wilt Chamberlain.
This year's game will pit a Pac-10 team against either a Big 12 or Big East opponent.
