LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech got top receiver Jarrett Hicks back Friday after the NCAA granted him an academic eligibility waiver.

Hicks, who missed the Red Raiders' first three games after the NCAA denied his first request, is expected to make his return Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana.

"We're happy this thing is over and now we can continue to concentrate on Southeastern Louisiana," coach Mike Leach said.

The NCAA overturned its initial ruling after the university submitted new information, according to a Texas Tech news release.

Hicks, a starter since his sophomore year, is the Red Raiders' all-time leader in touchdown receptions with 28. He caught 65 passes for 850 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

The school and the NCAA declined to release further details, citing student privacy laws.

Texas Tech (2-1) dropped out of the Top 25 after last week's 12-3 loss to TCU.
