Schiano led Rutgers to second 10-win season
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Greg Schiano, who guided Rutgers to national prominence this season, is Home Depot's coach of the year.
"This award is a true reflection of all the great people here at Rutgers," Schiano said.
Schiano led the Scarlet Knights to their second 10-win season in the school's 137-season history this year, including a thrilling rally to beat then-No. 3 Louisville.
The No. 13 Scarlet Knights can clinch the Big East Conference title and a berth in the Bowl Championship Series if they beat No. 15 West Virginia on Saturday.
Rutgers achieved its first top-10 ranking in school history this season but fell after a loss at Cincinnati on Nov. 18.
The award will be presented during a telecast of the Home Depot college football awards program Thursday.
