Program helping send military personnel to bowl
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama officials are encouraging fans unable to attend the PetroSun Independence Bowl to give their tickets to military personnel.
The ticket donation program will send members of the military stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base and Joint Readiness Training Center/Fort Polk to the Crimson Tide's game with Oklahoma State on Dec. 28. Both military facilities are relatively close to Shreveport, La., where the Independence Bowl will be held.
Athletic director Mal Moore said the program is a way for Alabama and fans to "show our admiration and support for their sacrifice and service to our nation."
Donated tickets will be allocated from the $25 price level.
Fans interested in buying tickets for military donation may order online at www.rolltide.com or call 205-348-BAMA (2262).
