Ohio State's Smith, ND's Quinn to play in Senior Bowl
Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith, the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, has accepted an invitation to play in the 2007 Under Armour Senior Bowl.
Smith joins Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn as members of the Senior Bowl's North team roster.
The Ohio State quarterback threw for 2,507 yards and a school-record 30 touchdown passes this season in leading the No. 1 Buckeyes into the Tostitos BCS Championship Game against Florida on Jan. 8. He also led the Big Ten in passer rating with 167.9 and was the winner of the Walter Camp Player of the Year and Davey O''Brien Award, presented to the nation's top quarterback.
Quinn, the 2006 Maxwell Award winner and a Heisman Trophy finalist, led Notre Dame to a 10-2 regular season after throwing a school-record 35 touchdown passes and 3,278 yards. In addition, he took home the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to the nation's top senior quarterback.
Smith and Quinn will be joined in Mobile, Alabama by several teammates, including defensive tackles Quinn Pitcock and David Patterson and center Doug Datish from Ohio State and Jeff Samardzija, Rhema McKnight, Victor Abiamiri and Ryan Harris from Notre Dame.
The Senior Bowl kicks off at 4 ET on Jan. 27 at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
