Brewster lets go of offensive line coach Shaw
MINNEAPOLIS -- New Minnesota coach Tim Brewster cut the last remaining ties to the Glen Mason era on Friday, telling longtime assistant Gordy Shaw that he will not be brought back to joing the new staff.
Shaw, an offensive line coach, spent 14 seasons with the Gophers, the last 10 under Mason. He and fellow assistant Luke Tressel were tapped by athletics director Joel Maturi to remain with the university after Mason was fired to keep in touch with recruits who have committed to play here next season.
But Brewster told both coaches that they will not be retained.
The new coach has said he will move quickly to assemble his staff and could announce that group in the next few days.
