CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Slain Miami football player Bryan Pata will receive a posthumous degree from university president Donna Shalala during commencement exercises on campus Friday.
Pata's family is expected to attend the ceremony to receive his degree.
Pata, a 22-year-old criminology major, was shot multiple times in the back of the head outside his Miami apartment on Nov. 7. Miami-Dade County police have released few details about the investigation, and no arrests have been made.
In December, the reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Pata's death had been raised to $21,000.
A 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman, Pata played in 41 games over his four-year career with the Hurricanes, making 23 starts.
