Dooley recovering from tumor removal
ATHENS, Ga. -- Former Georgia football coach Vince Dooley is recovering from surgery to remove a tumor near his vocal cords.
The 74-year-old Dooley was resting at home Tuesday night. He had been experiencing some hoarseness for several months, and an examination revealed the tumor, wife Barbara Dooley said.
"He's doing great," she said. "Just tell our friends not to call him because he can't say a word for 10 days."
Dooley worked for 41 years as Georgia's football coach and athletic director and retired in 2004. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
