Stagg Bowl to remain in Salem through 2009
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the NCAA's Division III football championship game, will remain in Salem, Va., at least through 2009.
The Division III Football Committee said Thursday the Stagg Bowl would return to Salem Stadium, its home the past 15 years.
"The City of Salem and the Stagg Bowl have become synonymous as the last stop on the road to a Division III football championship," said Wayne Burrow, the NCAA's director of championships. "The city and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference have displayed the ability to host and administer a first-class bowl game."
This year's game will be played on Dec. 15. The 2008 game will be on Dec. 20, and the 2009 game will be played on Dec. 19.
