Barnes immediately eligible upon transfer from Bama
OGDEN, Utah -- Alabama quarterback Jimmy Barnes is transferring to Weber State.
"Jimmy was a big-time player on the high-school level," Weber State coach Ron McBride said Thursday. "All the major schools in the country were after him. ... I have full confidence he will learn our system quickly and be ready to compete in fall camp."
Barnes will be immediately eligible and can play three seasons for the Division I-AA program, McBride said.
The Los Alamitos, Calif., native was a backup at Alabama. In 2004, his senior year of high school, Barnes threw for 2,615 yards and 37 touchdowns.
