Offensive coordinator Logan to leave BC

Boston College offensive coordinator Steve Logan has decided to leave the program, the school announced Friday.

Logan's decision leaves the Eagles without both of their coordinators just weeks before signing day, as former defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani was promoted to head coach after Jeff Jagodzinski was fired.

"Steve has done an outstanding job as our offensive coordinator the past two seasons," Spaziani stated in a prepared release. "The BC football family is appreciative of his efforts and wishes him well."

Logan and Jagodzinski had a coaching history together. They worked at ECU under coach Bill Lewis from 1989 to 1992. When Logan succeeded Lewis, Jagodzinski remained on staff for another four years before accepting the offensive coordinator position at Boston College.

Logan was tasked this season with ushering along quarterback Chris Crane, who was a first-year starter following the departure of first-round NFL draft pick Matt Ryan.

Crane managed the offense well enough to put the Eagles in contention to win the Atlantic Division, which they did, but Crane broke his collarbone in a Nov. 22 win against Wake Forest.

BC's offense struggled against Virginia Tech in the ACC championship game with redshirt freshman Dominique Davis, who was making only his second career start, and the offense also stalled in a 16-14 loss to Vanderbilt in the Music City Bowl.

Logan did not immediately return a call from ESPN.com.
