Franklin lands at MTSU after Auburn
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee State University has hired former Auburn assistant Tony Franklin as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Franklin spent 10 as Auburn's offensive coordinator and was fired midway through last season when the Tigers' sputtered in his spread offense.
Before going to Auburn, Franklin was offensive coordinator for two seasons at Troy, Middle Tennessee's Sun Belt Conference rival.
Franklin guided prolific offenses in his stint at Troy.
He replaces G.A. Mangus, who served as offense coordinator under coach Rick Stockstill for three years.
