Former player Pernetti named AD
NEWARK, N.J. -- Former Rutgers football player Tim Pernetti has been hired as the school's new athletic director.
Pernetti replaces Robert E. Mulcahy, who was fired at the end of last year. Pernetti won approval of the school's board of governors Thursday.
The 38-year-old Pernetti becomes the youngest athletic director in the Big East Conference. He played tight end for Rutgers in the early 1990s and also played one season under current Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano at Ramapo High School in northern New Jersey.
Pernetti has no previous experience as an athletic director and most recently worked as executive vice president for content at CBS College Sports Network.
