Connecticut defensive end Marcus Campbell, a projected starter, will not play for the Huskies this season, the school announced Saturday.

Team officials did not give a reason for Campbell's departure, saying only that he would not be enrolled in school this fall.

The junior played in 11 games as a reserve in 2008, recording 3.5 sacks. He was expected to start this season and help UConn replace departed seniors Cody Brown and Julius Williams at defensive end.

The Huskies also announced that two incoming freshmen, linebacker Michael Osiecki and quarterback Leon Kinnard, will not enroll until 2010 as they recover from injuries. Osiecki was the Connecticut high school player of the year last season.
