Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder will miss Saturday's game against Wake Forest with a separated right throwing shoulder suffered in Saturday's loss to Clemson.

Ponder, the ACC's passing leader who missed two days of practice last week with sore ribs, was to undergo X-rays on the shoulder Monday, Florida State said Sunday.

Florida State lacks depth at quarterback.

Other than Ponder, only redshirt freshman EJ Manuel has taken snaps for the Seminoles this season. Manuel, who was expected to replace Ponder against Wake Forest, has one completion for 4 yards on two attempts, both against Clemson.

Ponder threw four interceptions Saturday for Florida State (4-5, 2-4 ACC) in the 40-24 loss after entering with three for the season. Ponder was injured making a tackle in the fourth quarter.

The game against Wake Forest (4-6, 2-4 ACC) is crucial for both teams as they vie to become bowl eligible.
