Freshman Polk to miss spring practice

SEATTLE -- Running back Chris Polk won't be available for Washington's spring practice after having shoulder surgery for the second time in two years.

Coach Steve Sarkisian said Friday that Polk had his shoulder "cleaned out" and would miss spring practice. He's expected to be ready for fall.

Polk became the first freshman in Washington history to rush for 1,000 yards, finishing with 1,113 last season.

Sarkisian said offensive linemen Skyler Fancher and Greg Christine, and safety Justin Glenn should be available for spring practice. Fancher missed all of last season with a foot injury, while Christine and Glenn suffered lower leg injuries during the season.
