Ducks' Beard pleads guilty in fight case
EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon kicker Rob Beard has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of physical harassment in a Jan. 24 street fight that left him seriously injured.
The Register-Guard reported that prosecutors on Friday said the 19-year-old Beard was so drunk that he doesn't remember shoving a woman to the ground before he was beaten unconscious by two men who intervened on the woman's behalf.
Lane County Circuit Court Judge Maurice Merten sentenced Beard to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.
The two other men, 19-year-old Kirby Hawkins and 20-year-old Maurice Peterson, each pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor assault and were sentenced to 18 months probation.
