Unga hopes to return for senior season
PROVO, Utah -- BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall says running back Harvey Unga hopes to return to school in time to join the Cougars for his senior season.
Unga withdrew from classes last week, saying he had violated the school's strict honor code. He is asking school administrators to reinstate him so he can complete his undergraduate studies and -- he hopes -- finish out his football career.
Unga is already BYU's all-time rushing leader. He opted to stay in school in January rather than enter the NFL draft pool.
BYU students pledge to live by the honor code, a list of standards in line with the principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The school sent out a statement last week saying Unga and women's basketball player Keilani Moeaki were withdrawing for an undisclosed violation of the code.
