STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Former Mississippi football signee Jamar Hornsby and two others have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor simple assault in a 2009 attack on a man at a McDonald's restaurant in Starkville.

The three -- Hornsby, Darrell Cartez Simmons and Robert Nelson Jordan -- entered the pleas Monday in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.

The Starkville Daily News reports that Circuit Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced each to six months in jail, fined each $200 and ordered each to pay $2,362 to the victim for his medical bills.

The three initially had been charged with aggravated assault, a felony.

Rebels coach Houston Nutt released Hornsby from his national letter of intent in July 2009.
