Mike O'Cain to take over play calling
Virginia Tech quarterbacks coach Mike O'Cain will take over the play-calling duties for the Hokies, but Bryan Stinespring will retain the title of offensive coordinator, the school announced Tuesday.
Dinich: Will changes pay off?

Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer has restructured his staff, but questions still loom for the Hokies, writes Heather Dinich. Blog
It's the latest move in an offseason of change for a staff that hasn't had any coaching changes since 2006. Shane Beamer, who was previously announced as the running backs coach, now also will be the associate head coach.
Stinespring will take over the offensive tackles to go along with his current coaching duties with the tight ends, and Curt Newsome will coach only the offensive guards and the center position, as opposed to the entire line, which he coached the previous five seasons.
On defense, Torrian Gray will take over the rovers position and will coach the entire defensive backfield. Hokies coach Frank Beamer previously announced the hiring of outside linebackers coach Cornell Brown, who also will help out with the defensive ends.
Last week, running backs coach Billy Hite, the longest-tenured assistant coach in the country, and recruiting coordinator/outside linebackers coach Jim Cavanaugh were moved to administrative positions and Beamer's son and Brown were hired.
