BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) -- No. 23 Minnesota tries to win
here for the first time in 19 years when it visits Big Ten
Conference rival Indiana on Saturday.
The Golden Gophers (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) have lost six in a row at
Indiana since a 22-7 win in 1985. The teams have not met here
since 2000, when the Hoosiers posted a 51-43 victory.
Minnesota leads the all-time series, 34-24-3, but is just 5-15-2
here. Last year, the Gophers ran for 435 yards and six
touchdowns in a 55-7 home romp.
The Gophers snapped a two-game skid with a 45-0 trouncing of
Illinois last Saturday, their first shutout of a Big Ten foe
since 1990.
Marion Barber III ran for 138 yards and two TDs on just 11
carries and also completed a 21-yard TD pass to Ernie
Wheelwright. Barber needs one more rushing TD to surpass his
father (34) for the second place on the Gophers' career list.
The Hoosiers (2-5, 0-4) have dropped five straight games since a
surprising 2-0 start. Last week, the Hoosiers were routed at
Ohio State, 30-7. They were outgained on the ground, 282-53.
Indiana's Courtney Roby had five catches for 79 yards to break
Ernie Jones' school record of 2,361 career yards.
