ATLANTA (Ticker) -- No. 18 Virginia hopes to overcome recent
history when it visits Georgia Tech on Saturday in an Atlantic
Coast Conference contest.
The home team has won the last nine meetings in the series, with
neither team winning consecutive games since Virginia took four
in a row from 1992-95.
Georgia Tech beat Virginia here in 2002, 23-15, while the
Cavaliers returned the favor last year, 29-17.
The Cavaliers (7-2, 4-2 ACC) are coming off a 31-21 setback vs.
Miami last week.
Alvin Pearman ran for 106 yards on 21 carries but Marques Hagans
completed just 10-of-25 passes for 94 yards for Virginia, which
never led.
The Yellow Jackets (6-3, 4-3) have won back-to-back games and
four of five, including a 30-10 triumph over Connecticut last
Saturday.
Reggie Ball threw for a career-high 288 yards and two touchdowns
for the Yellow Jackets, who blocked two punts that led to 10
points.
