No. 3 Virginia Tech (6-0) at Maryland (4-2), 7:30 pm EDT

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) - Third-ranked Virginia Tech hopes to repeat its Thursday night success against Maryland when it visits the Terrapins in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest.

Last year, the Hokies routed the Terps in Blacksburg, 55-6, in a Thursday night encounter.

It was the teams' first meeting since a 55-28 win by Virginia Tech in 1993. Prior to that, the Terps had won six in a row in the series, with the first five from 1946-50.

The Hokies (6-0, 3-0 ACC Coastal) have not played since a 41-14 non-conference triumph over Marshall on October 8.

Starting tailback Cedric Humes broke his right arm in the second quarter, but redshirt freshman Branden Ore ran for 146 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Ore gave the Hokies the lead for good, 14-7, on a 14-yard TD run with 5:09 left in the first half.

Maryland (4-2, 2-1 Atlantic) has won three straight games, including a 38-7 road rout of winless Temple in a non-conference matchup October 8.

Mario Merrells ran for three touchdowns for the Terps, who trailed, 7-0, late in the first quarter before scoring the final 38 points.
