AUSTIN, TX - 3:30 PM ET
This looks like it should be a walkover for Texas, but we thought the same thing last year. In 2004, the Longhorns had to overcome a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit to defeat KU 27-23.

Kansas (5-4) at No. 2 Texas (9-0), 3:30 pm EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) - Coming off an impressive victory, second-ranked Texas can clinch a spot in the Big 12 Conference title game when it hosts Kansas on Saturday.

Ranked second in the latest BCS standings, Texas (9-0, 6-0 Big 12 South) appears to be on a collision course with top-ranked Southern California for a meeting in the Rose Bowl for the national championship.

To set up that much-anticipated showdown, however, the Longhorns will have to avoid upsets against the Jayhawks, at Texas AM on November 25 and potentially in the Big 12 title game. With a win in any of its final two regular-season games or a loss by second-place Texas Tech, Texas will secure a berth in the conference championship, but it certainly would prefer to take care of business Saturday.

The Longhorns need only look to last season's game with the Jayhawks if they need any extra motivation. Kansas (5-4, 2-4 North) led by 10 points in the fourth quarter before Texas rallied for a 27-23 victory.

The Longhorns scored 14 points in the final 4:12 to escape with the victory, with Vince Young rushing for 22 yards on 4th-and-18 in the final minute, setting up his winning 21-yard TD pass to Tony Jeffery with 11 seconds left.

Last week, Ramonce Taylor scored four touchdowns and Jamaal Charles rushed for two first-half scores as the Longhorns manhandled Baylor, 62-0, for their first shutout of the season.

It was Texas' 16th consecutive victory dating to last season, the second-longest streak in school history to a 30-game run from 1968-70.

The Jayhawks opened the season 3-0 before losing their first four conference games. Kansas has rebounded with two straight victories, including a 40-15 victory over Nebraska last Saturday.

Jon Cornish and Clark Green ran for a combined 201 yards as the Jayhawks snapped a 36-game skid against the Cornhuskers.

Kansas has turned things around thanks to its defense. The Jayhawks limited the Cornhuskers to just 138 total yards, including just 21 yard rushing on 22 carries. A week earlier in a 13-3 win over Missouri, the Kansas defense held quarterback Brad Smith in check and yielded just 180 total yards.

Texas is 5-0 against Kansas in Big 12 play and 5-2 overall.
