He's been to home and road games. He's been in the bleachers and on the sidelines. He's been a huge fan and a prized recruit. Now, Tebow finally gets to be a player.
Tebow, the backup quarterback behind Chris Leak, will make his highly anticipated debut tomorrow night when the seventh-ranked Gators open the season against Southern Mississippi.
His first appearance may be as hyped as Steve Spurrier's return to Gainesville, the ten-year reunion of the 1996 national championship team or coach Urban Meyer's second season with Florida's spread-option offense.
Yep, it's Tebow time.
Hand-picked by Meyer to direct his spread-option offense, Tebow is arguably Florida's most renowned freshman since Emmitt Smith in 1987. He has since impressed teammates with his leadership skills, work ethic and competitiveness.
