Close games between Navy and Notre Dame during the NCAA-record 43-game winning streak by the Fighting Irish over the Midshipmen:

1974 -- Pete Demmerle caught a 5-yard TD pass and Randy Harrison scored on a 40-yard interception return as No. 7 Notre Dame, which trailed 6-0 after three quarters, beat Navy 14-6.

1976 -- Cornerback Dave Waymer broke up a pass by Bob Leszczynski to Steve Scott in the end zone with 4:47 left as 11th-ranked Notre Dame held on for the 27-21 victory.

1984 -- John Carney kicked a 40-yard field goal with 14 seconds left to give Notre Dame an 18-17 victory.

1997 -- Navy quarterback Chris McCoy hit Pat McGrew with a 69-yard pass, but Irish cornerback Allen Rossum pushed McCoy out of bounds at the 1-yard line as time ran out and Notre Dame held on to win 21-17.

1999 -- Jarious Jackson threw a 16-yard TD pass to Jay Johnson with 36 seconds left to give the Irish a 28-24 victory.

2002 -- Rashon Powers-Neal scored on a 1-yard run with 4:28 left, and Carlyle Holiday threw a 67-yard TD pass to Omar Jenkins with 2:08 left to give ninth-ranked Notre Dame a 30-23 victory.

2003 -- D.J. Fitzpatrick kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired even though Navy safety Josh Smith said he got a hand on it, giving Notre Dame a 27-24 victory.
