DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Adam Smith threw two
touchdown passes to Reggie Love and rushed for another score as
Duke posted a 29-3 victory over Western Carolina in its home
Smith completed 13-of-20 passes for 120 yards for the Blue
Devils (1-1), who rebounded from last week's season-opening
27-0 loss to Virginia.
Smith and Love hooked up for a three-yard TD with 8:41 left in
the second quarter, then combined again for a four-yard TD
midway through the final period.
Chris Douglas rushed for 107 yards on 22 carries, including a
three-yard TD that opened the scoring just over six minutes into
the first quarter.
Western Carolina (0-2) has held to just four yards rushing and
got its only points on Chris Vought's 26-yard field goal with
three minutes left in the first third quarter.
Brian Gaither completed 18-of-33 passes for 181 yards for the
Catamounts, but was intercepted three times.
Duke has won all three meetings with Western Carolina.
