EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Dan Orlovsky threw three touchdown passes and Connecticut capitalized on three Lehigh turnovers in the Huskies' 35-17 win on Saturday.

It was the first game for the Huskies (4-2) without leading rusher Terry Caulley, who tore a ligament in his right knee last week in UConn's 47-13 loss at Virginia Tech. He was lost for the season. Freshman Matt Lawrence started in his place and rushed for 88 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown.

The Mountain Hawks (3-2) were the only Division I-AA opponent on UConn's schedule this season.

Lehigh's Chad Schwenk hit on 17 of 37 passes for 165 yards and a score, but was picked off twice by Justin Perkins deep in Lehigh territory.

Perkins' first-quarter pick turned the ball over on the Lehigh 30. Orlovsky struck quickly, hitting O'Neil Wilson for 29 yards on the next play. Lawrence's capped the short drive with a 1-yard scoring run with 1:33 left in the period.

The Huskies' Maurice Lloyd recovered Jermaine Pugh's fumble on the Lehigh 25 late in the second quarter, setting up Orlovsky's 25-yard TD pass to Brandon Young for 14-3 UConn lead at intermission.

Perkins' interception midway through the third quarter gave UConn the ball on the Lehigh 18. Orlovsky hit Wilson on the next play for an 18-yard strike.

Orlovsky also had a 4-yard scoring pass to Keron Henry in the fourth quarter to cap an 89-yard drive. Tailback Chris Bellamy, who also helped fill in for the missing Caulley, finished with 42 yards rushing and an 8-yard scoring run.

Schwenk found Adam Bergen for a 6-yard TD pass in the fourth. The Mountain Hawks' other score was a 3-yard pass from Kyle Keating to Jason Beck as the subs from both teams ran out the clock.

Pugh led the Lehigh ground game with 79 yards on 22 rushes.
