KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Talmadge Hill threw two touchdown passes as
Ball State scored the final 20 points to beat Kent State 34-17
Kent State (3-3, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) took a 17-14 lead
midway through the second quarter on Darrell Dowery's 16-yard
touchdown pass from Joshua Cribbs. But the Cardinals (3-3, 2-0)
dominated the rest of the way.
Hill hit Bryan Williamson on a 41-yard scoring pass in the third
quarter as Ball State regained the lead. Brian Jackson added field
goals of 41 and 32 yards, sandwiched around Dante Ridgeway's fumble
recovery in the end zone.
Hill completed 16 of 27 passes for 164 yards without an
interception. He also hit Larry Bostic with a 15-yard TD pass.
The Golden Flashes had more first downs (21-16) and more yards
(365-302) than the Cardinals, but lost three fumbles and Cribbs was
intercepted once. Cribbs finished 17 of 41 passing for 205 yards.
Kent State built its halftime lead on Kevin Beverly's 10-yard
run and Travis Mayle's 46-yard field goal.
Scott Blair, Ball State's leading rusher with 43 yards on 13
carries, scored on a 5-yard run in the second quarter.
