POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) -- Mark Hetherington passed 12 yards to Shedrack Okoebor for the winning touchdown as Idaho State upset Montana 43-40 in double overtime Saturday.

"When the ball was up in the air, I remembered what my coach always tells me," Okoebor said. "Catch the ball at its highest point and don't drop the ball. I just to the highest point and caught it and didn't drop it."

Hetherington threw for 398 yards and three touchdowns for the Bengals (5-2, 3-1 Big Sky), ranked 21st in NCAA Division I-AA.

It was the second double-overtime victory for the Bengals in three weekends, and their first win over Montana since 1994.

"I still don't know if it's real yet," said Idaho State senior defensive end Jared Allen, who had 2{ sacks and eight tackles. "I'm sure it will sink in tomorrow. Four years I've been here and we've never beaten them. It was due."

Fifth-ranked Montana (5-2, 1-1), playing its first road game in six weeks, sent the game into overtime on a dramatic 54-yard field goal by Chris Snyder with four seconds remaining.

In the first overtime both teams scored field goals. In the second overtime, Montana took a 40-37 lead on a 37-yard field goal by Snyder, his fourth on the afternoon.

UM's field goal came after two failed passes to Levander Segars in the end zone.

Idaho State then struck for the game winner.

"I told (the team) coming in here we weren't going to win the Big Sky championship by winning this game," said UM coach Bobby Hauck. "And conversely, we didn't lose the conference title by losing today. It's not like ISU is undefeated and can run the table on us. That's not the case. We need to get back and get our ducks in a row."

Hetherington threw two other touchdowns to Sale' Key. Key's catch with 7:01 left in regulation put ISU ahead 34-31 setting the stage for the last second dramatics.

Montana's Craig Ochs, the transfer from Colorado, threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns, but was intercepted twice by Emery Beckles deep in Bengal territory. One interception came on a tipped ball, the other was intercepted in the corner of the end zone. Beckles also rushed for an ISU score.

Justin Green rushed for 142 yards for the Griz. Isaac Mitchell ran for 108 yards and scored his 32nd career rushing touchdown, breaking the school record of 31 held by Merril Hoge.
