LORMAN, Miss. (AP) -- Donald Carrie threw two touchdown passes to
Nate Hughes in the final 7:10 to help Alcorn State beat
Southeastern Louisiana 27-24 on Saturday.
Hughes gave Alcorn State (4-5) the lead with 2:43 left with his
third TD catch, but David McConnell missed the extra-point attempt.
The Braves' Tyrone Parsons then intercepted Martin Hankins'
fourth-down pass and returned it to Southeastern's 39.
The Lions got the ball back after a punt, but Thomas Peed's
62-yard field-goal try on the final play came up short.
Hughes finished with four receptions for 158 yards. He had
scoring catches of 73, 35 and 29 yards.
Carrie was 14-of-29 for 302 yards and four TDs.
Hankins, a freshman who set Mississippi Class 5A records for
career yards and touchdowns at Hattiesburg High School, was
34-of-55 for 289 yards and three TDs for the Lions (3-7).
