BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Kevin Moffett returned the opening
kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and Quincy Richard had five TD
passes as Southern U. cruised to a 65-0 victory over Allen on
Southern (8-1) pounded out 487 yards total offense while
limiting Allen (4-5) to 138 yards.
Richard was 19 of 28 for 263 yards in three quarters of action.
Javon accounted for most of Allen's offense rushing for 74 yards
on 11 carries.
Moffett's return and Richard's TD passes to Chris Davis and
James Vernon sparked Southern to a 23-point first quarter. The
defense also contributed with a sack of Allen quarterback Nick
Walker for a team safety.
Southern added three more scores in the second quarter with the
highlight coming on a dazzling 68-yard punt return by Vernon.
Richard's 30-yard TD pass to Ard gave Southern a 44-0 lead at
Richard threw his career-tying fourth TD pass for Southern's
only score in the third.
Will Grier threw four touchdown passes to four receivers -- all in the first half -- and No. 25 Florida downed third-ranked Mississippi 38-10 on Saturday night.
Leonard Fournette highlighted his SEC-record third straight 200-yard game with a 75-yard touchdown run, and No. 9 LSU overcame Eastern Michigan 44-22 on Saturday night.
