Grambling 48, Texas Southern 15

GRAMBLING, La. (AP) -- Bruce Eugene threw five touchdown passes and 332 yards as Grambling State routed Texas Southern 48-15 on Saturday afternoon.

Grambling burst out in the opening minutes of second quarter on a 1-yard run by Kauuan Ab. By the half, Grambling (5-4, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) had put the game away with a 28-0 lead.

Moses Harris caught two passes, both for touchdowns. His first TD catch, an 8-yarder, came with 8:55 left in the second. His second touchdown came off a 33-yard pass with 10:18 left in the fourth.

Eugene completed 25 of 41 passes with no interceptions.

Brian Morgan added six points for Grambling on 41- and 37-yard field goals in the fourth and third quarters, respectively.

Texas Southern (5-4, 3-2) got some offense going late in the third quarter when quarterback Gerred Lunnon scored on a 1-yard run. Lunnon was 14 of 24 for 127 yards. He was intercepted once.

Damarcus Jenkins cut it to 41-15 on a 12-yard pass from Carlos Pierson with 13:13 left in the game.

Texas Southern was unable to convert third downs (only 3 of 13) and could not defend against Eugene's passing game.
