SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -- Junior quarterback Mark Hetherington passed for 183 yards and two touchdowns as Idaho State rallied Saturday to beat Cal Poly 38-31 in non-conference play.

Hetherington led the Bengals (7-4) from a 23-7 second-quarter deficit. He completed 17 of 26 passes, including a 14-yard touchdown pass to Brett Fowler in the first quarter and a 40-yard touchdown pass to Akilah Lacey late in the second.

Cal Poly (6-4) extended its lead 23-7 when Chris Peterson threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Jones, but Idaho State then scored 31 unanswered points to take a 38-23 lead.

The Mustangs scored one last time when Joey Warren caught a 24-yard pass from Peterson with 6:45 remaining.

Peterson completed 17 of 21 passes for a career-high 310 yards for Cal Poly. Jones caught seven passes for 102 yards and Brandon Shepard rushed for 123 yards on 11 carries.

Cal Poly ends its season Saturday against Humboldt State.
