BALTIMORE (AP) -- Craig Nelson had 18 carries for 136 yards and scored three touchdowns as Morgan State beat Norfolk State 43-34 Saturday.

Nelson scored on runs of 1, 6 and 11 yards in the first half as the Bears (6-5, 4-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) took a 28-14 lead. Kelvin Dickens, who had two receptions for 94 yards, caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from LeJominick Washington with 5:45 in the half.

Howard Gilmore led Norfolk State (1-11, 0-7) with 13 catches for 305 yards, and Dontrell Leonard completed 23-of-43 passes for 439 yards.

Even though the Spartans finished with negative yards rushing, Tyrone Hall scored on a pair of 1-yard runs to tie the game at 28 in the third quarter.

But Morgan State took the lead when Washington, who completed 4-of-14 passes for 98 yards, threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Christian Sweat to give the Bears a 35-28 lead with 3:19 left in the third quarter.

Leonard then scored on a 1-yard run with 6:29 left in fourth quarter, but the extra point was wide left, allowing the Bears to hold onto a one point lead.

Washington ran 7 yards for Morgan State's final touchdown.
