NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- J.P. Losman threw four touchdown passes to lift Tulane to a 28-18 victory over Conference USA foe East Carolina.

Losman overcame five sacks and an interception to complete 14-of-20 passes for 227 yards as Tulane (5-7, 3-5) bounced back from last week's loss to Southern Mississippi.

East Carolina (1-10, 1-6) took a 7-0 lead with 2:56 left in the first quarter on Marvin Townes' 11-yard TD run. But Losman's second TD toss, a 27-yard strike Roydell Williams with 10:29 left in the second period, put Tulane ahead for good, 14-7.

Townes added a 36-yard TD run with 3:32 left in the third quarter to cut Tulane's lead to 21-18. Townes rushed for 185 yards on 28 carries for the Pirates, who lost their fourth straight game.

East Carolina ran for 249 yards but wasn't nearly as successful throwing the ball as James Pinkney completed 13-of-27 passes for just 126 yards and two interceptions.

Jovon Jackson run for 91 yards on 21 carries for the Green Wave, who rushed for 135 yards.

Losman capped the scoring with a 16-yard TD pass to Nick Narcisse with 9:44 remaining.
