MURRAY, Ky. (AP) -- Nick Turner rushed for 106 yards and Ron Lane
ran for another 105 as Murray State dominated Glenville State 56-3
Saturday night in the season-opener for both teams.
The Racers (1-0) had 604 offensive yards, with 373 on the
ground. Chad Cook rushed for another 90 yards, including one
touchdown. Quarterback Adam Fisher completed 11 of 20 passes for
The Division II Pioneers (0-1) had 136 passing yards and were
held to 56 rushing yards. Starting quarterback Joey Conrad
completed 9-of-35 for 64 yards.
Glenville State's only score came with 8:25 left in the game on
a 36-yard field goal.
Turner returned a Glenville State punt 65 yards for the Racers'
second score of the night, making it 14-0 with about four minutes
left in the first quarter. Less than a minute into the second
quarter, Turner put Murray State up 21-0 with a 28-yard touchdown
Lane extended the lead to 28-0 when he ran 17 yards to the end
zone with 5:11 remaining in the first half. He then scored midway
into the third quarter on a 33-yard run, making it 35-0.
With 1:27 left in the third quarter, Ulysses Odoms joined Murray
State's scoring effort with a 2-yard touchdown run. He rushed 12
more yards to score about three minutes into the final quarter,
putting the Racers up 49-0.
