EASTON, Pa. (AP) -- Brad Maurer ran for one touchdown and threw for another and Joe McCourt also scored twice for Lafayette in a 48-7 victory over Marist on Saturday.

Maurer, making his first collegiate start, ran for 70 yards in the first quarter and scored with 2:26 remaining in the quarter. He also connected with Archie Fisher on a 32-yard pass for another score with 22 seconds remaining in the half to give Lafayette a 31-0 halftime lead.

McCourt scored on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and a 6-yard run that capped a 71-yard drive in the second.

Lafayette (1-0) amassed 409 yards of total offense, including 289 rushing. Marist (0-1) was held to 137 for the game.

Rick Ziska kicked a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter and had a 26-yard score with 1:18 remaining in the third quarter.

Alfred Belton scored on a 6-yard run early in the fourth quarter to give Lafayette its final score and a 48-0 advantage.

Mike Marshall scored on a 7-yard pass from James Luft with 8:10 remaining in the fourth quarter to put Marist on the board.
