Lafayette 17, Georgetown 6

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pat Davis' 20-yard pass to Joseph Ort with 2:20 to play was the only offensive touchdown as Lafayette defeated Georgetown 17-6 Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

In a game that included 11 sacks and six turnovers, the Leopards (2-0, 1-0) took the lead for good on Andrew Brown's 2-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter. The play was set up by a punt from Mike Davis that was downed at the 1-yard line.

Lafayette lost two fumbles and rotating quarterbacks Pat Davis and Brad Maurer threw three interceptions, but the Leopards' defense compensated by holding Georgetown (1-1, 0-1) to 132 total yards.

Michael Gillman made field goals of 31 and 23 yards for Georgetown, a week after he made five attempts against St. Francis. Rick Ziska kicked a 48-yarder for Lafayette.
