BOSTON (AP) -- Paul Peterson threw two touchdown passes and Andre Callender ran for another score Friday night to lead Boston College to a 27-7 victory over Connecticut, spoiling the Huskies' first game as members of the Big East.

Peterson, who threw three TD passes in last Saturday's win over Penn State, is 6-0 as a starter.

The Eagles (3-0), who opened their final season as Big East members, join the Atlantic Coast Conference next season. They improved to 10-0-2 in the series against UConn.

Peterson was 14-of-23 for 193 yards with one interception. Callender carried 26 times for 98 yards.

Dan Orlovsky was 22-of-32 for 193 yards, but had a key interception in the final quarter for the Huskies (2-1). He was held without a TD pass for the second consecutive week after completing one in a school-record 25 straight games.

Connecticut's first play in the Big East was one the Huskies would like to forget. Allan Barnes had the opening kickoff bounce in front of him, then off his helmet before he fumbled it away after an 11-yard return, with BC's Jamie Silva recovering at the 13. Two plays later, Peterson hit Joel Hazard with a 12-yard TD pass.

The Eagles increased the lead to 10-0 midway in the second quarter on Ryan Ohliger's 42-yard field goal, the first of his career. BC made it 17-0 on Callender's 1-yard scoring run.

On the ensuing possession, UConn cut it to 17-7 on Cornell Brockington's 7-yard TD run that capped a 79-yard drive. Orlovsky was 6-for-6 for 54 yards on the drive. Brockington finished with 105 yards on 24 carries.

Early in the fourth quarter, BC defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka intercepted a tipped pass at the Eagles' 33. Five plays later, BC put the game away when Peterson hit Grant Adams with a 34-yard TD to make it 24-7. Ohliger added a 37-yard field goal with just over 5 minutes left.
