BOSTON (AP) -- Clifton Dawson ran for 184 yards and scored three
touchdowns Saturday as Harvard beat Holy Cross 35-0.
The Crimson (1-0) also got a touchdown on an 87-yard punt return
by Brian Edwards and two Matt Schindel field goals. Harvard also
held the Crusaders to 131 yards of total offense. and had a nearly
10-miunute advantage in time of possession.
Holy Cross (0-3) committed five turnovers on the way to losing
its 13th consecutive game, setting a school record. The old record
of 12 losses was set during the 1968-70 seasons.
Dawson gave Harvard a 7-0 lead with 4:10 remaining in the first
quarter on a 1-yard dash. He boosted Harvard's lead to 14-0 at
14:01 of the second and then broke the game open with a 74-yard run
with 5:28 left in the first half.
Edwards' 87-yard punt return gave the Crimson a 29-0 halftime
Schindle kicked field goals of 31 and 37 yards in the third
