PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Clifton Dawson's third touchdown capped
Harvard's second-half comeback as the Crimson beat Brown 35-34 on
Dawson scored on a 1-yard run with 12:16 left in the fourth to
put Harvard ahead 35-31. Brown cut the lead to 35-34 on Steve
Morgan's 28-yard field goal with 5:15 left.
Dawson gained 142 yards on 23 carries, adding touchdown runs of
80 and three yards for Harvard (2-0, 1-0 Ivy), which trailed 31-10
Nick Hartigan gained 175 yards on 34 carries and scored twice
for Brown (1-1, 0-1).
The Bears took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, as quarterback
Joe DiGiacomo scored on a 53-yard run and threw an 83-yard
touchdown pass to Jarrett Schreck. Hartigan added a 2-yard run to
make it 21-0.
Harvard scored 18 unanswered points in the third quarter to
climb back in the game. Ryan Fitzpatrick hit receiver Corey Mazza
with a 35-yard TD pass early in the third and Matt Schindel added a
22-yard field goal before Dawson's 80-yard TD run closed the gap to
Fitzpatrick was 18-of-25 for 263 yards, while DiGiacomo threw
for 313 yards, completing 18 of 33 passes.
The two teams combined for 1,010 yards of total offense.
