MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Thomas Ricks passed for 407 yards and five touchdowns, including a 31-yard scoring pass to Emile Bryant on the final play of the game, as Southern came from behind to defeat Alabama State 42-41 Saturday.

Ricks also rushed for 61 yards and caught a touchdown pass.

Southern (3-2, 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored three times in the final 14 minutes of the game to erase a 20-point deficit.

The fourth quarter scores for the Jaguars also included a 64-yard pass from Ricks to James Vernon and a 55-yard pass from running back Jamaal Huff to Ricks. It was Vernon's second touchdown reception.

Ricks also threw scoring passes to Rogers Taylor and Antonio Overstreet.

Alabama State (3-1,2-1 SWAC) was led by Keldri Williams who rushed 18 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Hornets' quarterback Tarvari Jackson passed for two touchdowns and ran for another. He was 17-of-30 for 244 yards and was not intercepted.
